El Tunche

Origin: Peruvian Mythology Habitat: Rainforest Behavior: Aggressive Description:  A wrathful ghost that has never been seen. Facts:  This wrathful ghost is said to be condemned to wander the paths and undergrowth of the Peruvian rainforest, collecting the souls of explorers and travelers who die in the forests. It reveals its presence by doing a short but persistent whistling sound   to try and trick people into whistling back, and giving away their exact location.  If a potential victim is on 'good terms' with the flora and fauna of the forest, the creature will just scare them away , though it will kill them if they seek to damage the ecosystem .

Origin: Arabic Mythology Habitat: Desert Behavior: Aggressive Description: Half a human being; having half a head, half a body, one arm, one leg, with which it hops with much agility Facts: It's believed it can kill a person by just touching them and the person would be fleshless in mere seconds.

Kobalos

Origin: Greek Mythology  Habitat: N/A Behavior: Harmless Description:  Impudent, thieving, droll, idle, mischievous, gnome-dwarfs "Funny, little triksy elves" of a phallic nature Facts:  A mischievous creature fond of tricking and frightening mortals . The kobaloi were companions of  Dionysus  and could shapeshift as Dionysus in the guise of Choroimanes-Aiolomorphos. According to one myth, they robbed Herakles  while he slept. He captured them in revenge but took pity on them when he found them amusing. The kobaloi were thought to live in Euboea or near Thermopylae.  Parents used tales of the  kobaloi  to frighten children into behaving.

Draugr

Origin: Norse  mythology Habitat: Graveyards/Gravesite Behavior: Aggressive Description:  They are d ead bodies usually swollen, blackened or dead blue skin, and generally hideous to look at. Their bodies are described as being extremely heavy. Facts: Draugar live in their graves, often guarding treasure buried with them in their burial mound, wreak havoc on living beings, or torment those who had wronged them in life. They are animated corpses — unlike ghosts they have a corporeal body with similar physical abilities as in life. Older literature makes clear distinctions between sea-draugar and land-draugar.  Draugar possess superhuman strength , can increase their size at will, and carry the unmistakable stench of decay.  They are also noted for the ability to rise from the grave as wisps of smoke and "swim" through solid rock ,  which would be useful as a means of exiting their graves.  In folklore, draugar slay their victims through various methods inclu

Qalupalik

Origin:  Inuit mythology Habitat: Water Behavior: Aggressive Description:  It is a human-like creature that lives in the sea, with long hair, green skin, and long fingernails. The myth is that qalupaliks wear an amautiit (a form of pouch that Inuit parents wear to carry their children)  Facts: They use their amautiit to take babies and children away who disobey their parents .  Qalupaliks are said to make a distinctive humming sound ; therefore, they can be heard before they appear.

Mahaha

Origin:  Inuit mythology Habitat: Mountains Behavior: Aggressive Description:  This creature is described as a thin sinewy being, ice blue in colour and cold to the touch. Mahaha’s eyes are white and they peer through the long stringy hair that hangs in its face. This demon is always smiling and giggling.  Mahaha is usually seen with almost no clothing (always barefoot) on yet it never seems to be bothered by the cold. Facts: It i s a maniacal demon that terrorized parts of the arctic.  It is very strong . This cold demon takes pleasure in tickling its victims to death .
